Legal
On Your Case: A Comprehensive, Compassionate (and Only Slightly Bossy) Legal Guide for Every Stage of a Woman's Life by Lisa Green - One of the only books I could find offering general legal guidance for women. (The scarcity of books for women on this topic is yet another reason why a course like Woman's Compass Forum is so important!) Written by TV legal analyst and attorney Lisa Green, this book is full of practical advice on a range of topics.
The Invisible Conversations™ with Your Aging Parents by Shannon A. White - Recommended by one of our students, this book will help you start or continue the conversations you need have with your aging parents about health issues, money and much more, with emphasis on maintaining dignity and respect.
Getting to Yes by Roger Fisher and William Ury. The leading book on negotiation strategy for nearly 30 years, based on the work of the Harvard Negotiation Project. Updated step-by-step guide to conflict resolution and reaching agreement. I first read this in law school and still find it useful in resolving all types of disputes - legal, business and personal!
If you want to shake things up with a little fiction there are plenty of great legal thrillers to consider - standards like John Grisham and Scott Turow - and my personal favorite To Kill A Mockingbird. (Always trying to keep law interesting!!)
This is a long list, we know! Find just one that sparks your interest, grab your coziest blanket and dig in!
